Cadillac rose from the ashes of the ‘Henry Ford Company’. When things fell apart, Ford and a few other key people left to later create the ‘Ford Motor Company’. The remainder of people and manufacturing assets at HFC would become Cadillac.
The name ‘Cadillac’ comes from Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac. He was the one who founded the city of Detroit two hundred years earlier.

Therefore, the correct pronunciation of Cadillac is as such:

‘kàdiyàk’
Other mispronounced french car brands include Chevrolet, which should be pronounced ‘chevrolay’.

Uhhh... you're telling me people say chev-ro-let?????????????????

ehh, should’ve been more careful with my phrasing. There’s a difference in saying ‘chevrolay’ american style, or saying ‘chevrolay’ with a french intonation.

A.) I already say “Caddiyak” because it’s amusing
B.) Nobody says “Chevrolette,” they already pronounce it as “Chevrolay.”

Motherfuckers at Caddiyak won’t let you have this blue with the red interior on the non-V models. They also neglected to put the saffron inserts on the seats...all you get is black. Boooooo-hiss.
